Health & Safety First: Protecting New Yorkers Through Smart Policy
A.S.H. (Advocates for Safety & Health) is a legislative advocacy initiative focused on the health, safety, and dignity of sex workers and survivors of trafficking in the state of New York. A.S.H. centers sex worker and survivor voices & experiences, and is supported by community partners, allies, and those deeply dedicated to the fight for human rights.
A.S.H.’s advocacy focuses on the well-being and safety of all communities in New York State by championing bills that improve the health and safety of sex workers. It is our responsibility to address the stigma, shift the legal & cultural landscape, and secure necessary protections for sex workers and survivors. See our 2026 legislative platform here.
A.S.H. was formed out of the Immunity New York Coalition after Immunity legislation (A.1029-B / S.3967-B) became law in December 2025. Immunity laws encourage sex workers and survivors who experience or witness crime to report their experience and seek help without fear of prosecution for prostitution when they report the crime to a law enforcement agency, seek or receive health care services, or aid in the investigation of the crime. Learn more about these laws here.
